Facilities

Thornbank Stables, Blebo Craigs

Balanced Equine is based at Thornbank Stables, Blebo Craigs (between St Andrews and Cupar), Fife, Scotland. Thornbank Stables offers fantastic facilities for starting young horses and general training. The facilities include:

Outdoor School

Outdoor SchoolA 22 x 44 meter, well drained, rubber outdoor school with show jumps. This all-weather school is used as a next step for getting horses going forwards whilst still in a secure environment. It is a great size and also has lighting for use in the evenings.

Round Pen

Round PenThe round pen is an invaluable piece of equipment for horse training by Balanced Equine. It provides a safe environment where Join-up can be performed and also where the horse can be safely introduced to their first saddle and rider.

Our round pen is made from high quality galvanised steel, is 6’6″ in height and 50′ in diameter. It is lightweight and the individual panels can be used to assist with loading issues. It is also useful for restricted turnout.

Summer Jumping paddock

Show-jumpingDressage arena and showjumping in a level grass paddock, great for introducing horses to jumping in an open space. We also have a few logs and tyres in a variety of heights and a ditch and cross country bank. This is a great facility to allow the horses to have some fun whilst learning to jump and move forwards.

Blebo Woods and Hacking

View from Blebo WoodsBlebo Craigs is a quiet, quaint village with a no through road offering great hacking on quiet country roads as well as ample off road riding including farm tracks, perfect for introducing the young horse to hacking.

The woods at Blebo Craigs offer fantastic hacking over a variety of terrain and gradients, great for making a horse aware of where its feet are and building up muscle. There are a variety of natural jumps in the woods including logs, steps and ditches with water. The beach both at Tentsmuir and West Sands in St Andrews are easily accessible by horsebox to introduce canter work or just for some down time and a paddle.
